Finally, a class restaurant in this area, went for dinner on Thursday last ,had a beautiful T-Bone steak cooked to perfection, he had the grilled sea bass and never complained, a first for him. Service was friendly and not over the top. The look and feel of this place, is very unique, outdoor patio's, fireplaces, and great decor, well worth the visit. He say's were going back, another first.

Every Tuesday night I would go to liberty’s for 30 cent wings with my family. This week when I went I ordered 3 waters and was told that I would have to buy the bottled water because it was wing night. This was the first time I ever heard of this. What a big disappointment. I mean we are going to buy at least 2 waters for each of us. The only thing that brought us to liberty’s was the 30 cent wing deal. Now that $3.00 meal turns into being a $7.00 dinner per person. Unfortunately I will not be returning. Anyone know of another cheap wing place?

I have been going to Grouchy Gabes for years and have never been disappointed. The menu has gotten even better with the new bread from Smith Street Bakery. Any time the soup is on, make sure you have some--always great flavor and freshly home made. Another favorite is the Waldorf Chicken Salad--not just regular old deli food. I have also had many events catered by Grouchy Gabes and the food always goes over great. Gabriel and Rebecca have done a nice job of creating a friendly and comfortable neighborhood deli. Yes, the "Grouchy" Gabe does show up from time to time but chances are if you see the Grouchy side of Gabe, you did something to deserve it (by the way, don't read the paper unless you plan to pay for it). Definitely a place to visit regularly.

Grouchy Gabe's is a wonderful little spot in the center of Croton-on-Hudson. The food is yummy, but it is truly the atmosphere that keeps Gabe's a hopping mecca of activity. Gabe is an incredibly interesting person who is knowledgeable in so many areas. Because of this there are always intriguing conversations, laughter and friendly banter filling the restaurant. Head to this family friendly place for good food with reasonable prices you'll leave with a smile on your face.

We have now eaten at Hanlon's three times - very happy with everything each time. The food is delicious, the restaurant is very attractive with a working fireplace. The service is gracious and friendly. Several of our friends are also very happy with the restaurant

I stopped into Grouchy Gabe's last weekend with my parents, and we had a great, quick lunch. The panninis were fresh & good, and my dad had a burger that he thought was terrific. Sounds like the other poster just had a long day -- maybe he was a little grouchy from being out all day with a toddler and a baby!! Grouchy Gabe could not have been nicer, and his wife is lovely. We will definitely go back next time we are in the area.

Last weekend I had a party catered by Grouchy Gabe’s Deli. Gabe was very accommodating to my tastes and whims and offered menu suggestions that were perfect for the event as well as within my budget. The food was delicious and presented beautifully. The paninis were wonderful; my guests raved particularly over the roast beef with horseradish sauce. Great job, Grouchy Gabe!

hey I went here w my friends the other day. the waitress took fifteen minutes to come back and check if needed anything. The wings were horrible and overpriced. The waitresses there thought that they ran the place and were very rude to me and my friends. One waitress was showing me an attitude and when i told the manager she was acting up he said that I should leave and I end up getting banned from the place because of her. Don't bother going to this poor excuse of a bar. Its just a matter of time they get shut down because its filthy and I even saw a roach in the mens room. Avoid eating here cause of the poor health standards implemented in this business. I hope I saved some bad experiences by sharing this with you..Enjoy your day

I first tried Mountain Product's Bacon from the Hudson Valley Garlic Festival. I got to sample the Garlic Bacon and wow, what a treat! Then I saw in the December issue of Everyday w/ Rachael Ray Mag their Chipotle Bacon. So I ordered it last week, breakfast was amazing!! I think everyone should eat this bacon!!!!
levij wrote about Cafe Tascha
Turns out it's not an Italian place, sounds like they're talking about Gracie's Ravioli (which is two doors down) and not Cafe Tascha. The owner is Turkish and there is some turkish coffee and turkish tea that's pretty amazing. The grape leaves are great too and the desserts look very good...it's a nice place to come hang out, and the free wi-fi is definitely a plus. The coffee is not really expensive (the average of other coffee shops in Nyack), and decor is out of this world...I had a great time.

If you're looking for excellent, thin crust pizza in Yonkers, then you owe it to yourself to visit The Pizza Place in Yonkers. Located at 92 Main Street, on the Yonkers Waterfront, (right at the train trestle as you approach the City Pier), The Pizza Place offers an indoor/outdoor experience you'll never forget. Excellent thin crust pizza cooked the Old Fashioned way, nice and crisp. And it's not just Pizza. The Pizza Place offers fresh Salads, as well as Pasta and many Italian dishes. Their tomato sauce is to die for. You have to try their Macaroni And Meatballs, or any of their Pasta dishes. Their ravioli is great too. They also have great desserts as well as espresso and cappuccino. I enjoyed all of this great food while enjoying Live Jazz music that they offer, FREE of charge, every Thursday night. What a great combination; Jazz & Pizza! You have to check it out. The Pizza Place in Yonkers... THE place you should be going for Pizza!

CTicknor wrote about Grouchy Gabe's Grill
On a great fall day, my family and I stopped in Croton-on-Hudson on the way back from Bear Mountain looking for lunch. We found the small downtown and saw Grouchy Gabe's Grill with kids at tables outside. Perfect for a 2 year old and 7 month old, we thought. We sat inside and the interior was just fine. Old diner booths, a few round tables. Local artists work on the walls. Almost quaint (if it weren’t for the lack of a customer restroom). We ordered 2 cheeseburgers done medium with everything, a grilled cheese, an order of french fries, and an order of mozzarella sticks. I got an Orngina and my wife got a bottle of water from the plentiful assortment in the drink cooler. The mozzarella sticks were OK. Probably from a frozen box, but you don't expect much from a mozzarella stick. The fries and grilled cheese came out and were very good, exactly right for a two year old. Then the burgers showed up mostly raw with old, half melted cheddar cheese on untoasted buns that were falling apart. No lettuce, no tomato, no onions. Maybe 6 ounces of meat. These were the $6.50 1/2 pound cheeseburgers from the menu. I took them to the counter to ask if this was what they meant to serve us and to let them know that we couldn't eat the raw burgers. Then all hell broke loose. Grouchy Gabe himself made it apparent how he got the name. He told me I didn’t have to eat his food and continued grumbling under his breath. I asked if this was how I should expect to be treated as a customer and he asked if he should be treated this way as an owner. His wife working the counter apologized for his behavior, the cook came out to apologize, and the other kid working the counter apologized. But Grouchy Gabe stared us down until we left the restaurant. I asked to pay for the drinks and food we had eaten, but the wife told us she was sorry for her husband’s behavior and that we didn’t have to pay and that she hoped we’d come again (but knew we likely wouldn’t). Bizarre and baffling. I could understand a grizzly old character with stories and a barking wit, but being unnecessarily attacked for not wanting to feed my toddler raw beef is just plain outrageous. The experience completely marred what had been a beautiful fall family outing. I would suggest avoiding Grouchy Gabe's Grill in Croton-on-Hudson at all costs.

SarahG wrote about Porter House
They have excellent burgers, and Captain Lawrence on tap. Need I saw more? But seriously, there is a lot of mediocre overpriced food along that strip. I think that Porter House offers better meal options than the competition, and their prices are not outrageous, considering the rent they must be paying there. I read the other review... I have never been to Porter House on a Friday or Saturday night, so I cannot speak to the type of crowd it attracts during those hours. However, I have eaten dinner there several times during the week, and gone home full and happy.
