Inside: The Bayou in Mount Vernon
If you are looking for a touch of New Orleans, something different for dinner, or some great music, the Bayou in Mount Vernon is the perfect spot.
The friendly, music-loving restaurant has been serving up deep southern fare for 20 years, and every day of the week is a party at the Bayou.
On Mondays, local musicians flock in for an open jam, keeping the bar open past midnight. Thursday through Saturday nights include rock, zydeco and jam bands at the back corner of the dining room. Tables are full of new and old fans.
On Sunday, head to the Bayou for brunch. The Bayou has more to offer than its late-night music scene. The menu is full of New Orleans and southern specialties like mudbugs, gumbo, jambalaya, alligator sausage and lots of oysters.
