Talk about intimidation! To enter 42, chef Anthony Goncalves' rooftop restaurant, you ride a glass elevator to the 42nd floor and present yourself at a formidable hostess stand. Head to the bar, where you can enjoy a glass of their incredible Prosecco Cartizze, if you want to spend your budget on a drink (it's $18 a glass) and enjoy the view.
Or order a handful of fresh, briny oysters from the small plates menu — they're $1 each if you go between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday — and a martini ($14). What could be more glam? You'll get the view, the atmosphere and a glimpse at the chef's legendary kitchen acumen.
