Once impossibly cool, now possibly out of style, The Go! Team still has it live
As rip-roaringly cool as being an of-the-moment indie rock band must be, there's certainly something to be said for shelf life. Take Brighton, England's Go! Team, who were white hot four years ago with their debut "Thunder Lightening Strike," even earning a coveted Mercury Prize nomination. But just a few years later, at the turn of the decade, they're already a bit of a fuzzy memory whose mish-mash of electro and hip-hop sounds a bit out of place on the current indie rock landscape. Still, their follow-up—"Rolling Blackouts"—boasts some exciting guest stars, like Beth Cosetino of Best Coast and Satomi Matsuzaki of Deerhoof, and plenty of high energy tracks to reclaim the dancefloor. With Frankie Rose and the Outs.
