Carrie Underwood
Another country music awards show? Really? Yes, the inaugural American Country Awards took place the evening of Monday, Dec. 6 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Created by the folks who brought you the Teen Choice Awards, the ACAs hope to stand out from the Country Music Association Awards, CMT Music Awards, and Academy of Country Music Awards by letting fans vote for who should take home the new trophies. Other than that…well, it's pretty much your standard awards show, with a red carpet and lots of performances to break up the monotony of all those acceptance speeches.
One cool new wrinkle though: The awards themselves are shaped like guitars! Carrie Underwood took home the lion's share of them, winning in all six categories in which she was nominated, including Artist of the Year. Other top winners included Lady Antebellum (four wins) and Easton Corbin (three).
