“A Guy Thing” (2003)
We’ve heard of grooms ditching brides at the alter, and vice-versa. But in “A Guy Thing,” everybody wants to bail. Jason Lee plays the poor engaged chap who wakes up the morning after his bachelor party to discover a strange woman sleeping in his bed. Awkward. He later realizes that the woman is his fiancé’s cousin. Doubly awkward. But none of this quite prepares us for the creepy wedding day, when the groom dumps the bride, and she promptly returns the favor—abandoning her man for (wait for it) his brother. Typically a ruined wedding would be a sad affair, but here it seems like something of a relief for everyone, except the audience.
