In 1980, Tarrytown Music Hall had fallen into disrepair. A month before the town was about to turn it into a parking lot, Helen Ringeisen and the late Berthold Ringeisen stepped in. For 23 years, they volunteered to do everything from administration to maintenance to fundraising to bring the building back to life. Their daughter, Karina, a talented dancer, now is theater manager. The theater has hosted a wide range of events and performers, including Switchfoot, Paolo Nutini, Brian Regan, Neko Case, Mike Birbiglia and Jose Gonzalez. That's a hell of a lot more entertaining than a parking lot.
