I panicked a bit and debated walking away. Maybe I was in over my head. Maybe I was just too weak or too small.

But Kyle wasn’t having all that. He picked up the bike and said it happens all the time. “Hop back on and get back in line,” he said, pointing to the line of my classmates, all on bikes.

I scanned the group and my future mother-in-law had a look of worry in her eyes. So, I got back on.
