Is it Manhattan? Las Vegas? Try Poughkeepsie. Few places north of NYC even come close to mirroring the big-city nightlife, but Shadows on the Hudson, adjacent to The Grandview events center, finds a way to do it.

The indoor bar and cocktail lounge are so decked out that you’ll want to be seen sipping a martini in front of it. The outdoor bar is just as pretty and offers a view of the Mid-Hudson Bridge. Despite its proximity to colleges and frat-boyish bars, this crowd skews slightly older and way mellower. (Don’t expect to brush away a belligerent underage drinker bumping into you.)
