MaryJo Torpey is a nurse by day and a bartender at Luna Lounge in Nyack by night. Does that seem unusual to you? It doesn't to her.
"They're kind of the same thing," she says. "You're taking care of people every day, and it's fun for me both ways."
For the 31-year-old Orange County native who now calls Rockland home. When she's working at Luna, where she's been behind the bar for almost two years, it's all about making other people feel better. What's the funniest thing that's ever happened at the bar?
Someone ordering a "cousin" a drink and then making out (with that person).

I'm a nurse.

Casa Del Sol. That's really it (other than Luna).
Is there a drink that makes you cringe when it's ordered?
Not really for me. I'll drink anything.
Have you ever had any ridiculous or insane customers?
Hell yes! There's a dude who looks like a lady!
What’s your secret to curing a hangover?
Alka-Seltzer.
What's the worst fake ID you've ever seen?
I don't see fake IDs.
What's one thing that people would be surprised to know about you?
I work at a hospital and take care of people on a regular basis.
Do you have a signature drink?
The "Pleasure" — vodka, watermelon or cran, and Malibu.
