It's been said that everything happens for a reason. Maybe lifelong Nyack resident Kristen Lynn was destined to walk into Luna Lounge the night she quit her traditional job in 2008. While Lynn was bumming out about the situation, the owner of Luna offered her a job slinging drinks at her favorite bar. It was a job that she couldn't turn down and has loved ever since.
Metromix Hudson Valley chatted with the 24-year-old bartender about Jake Gyllenhaal, random acts of nudity and her signature drink.
What's the funniest thing that's ever happened at the bar?
The White Trash Night is always the best here, because everybody always gets completely wasted.
Which celebrity would you most love to serve and what would you serve him/her?
Jake Gyllenhaal. Shots. A lot of hard stuff.
What does somebody have to do to get a free drink around here?
Dance on the bar!
What drink will have you calling a cab home?
The Mongolian (Expletive). It's got a little bit of everything in it.
What's the largest cash tip you've ever gotten?
$80.
What made you become a bartender?
I quit my 9-to-5 and I was drowning my sorrows here, so (the owner) gave me a job.
Do you have any other jobs, aside from bartending?
No, sir.
Do you go to any other bars?
I like to stay here (at Luna). It's the most fun bar in Nyack.
Is there a drink that makes you cringe when it's ordered?
No, I like making all drinks!
Have you ever had any ridiculous or insane customers?
It happens almost every night. You get some crazy ones. ... We've had the random acts of nudity.
What’s your secret to curing a hangover?
Start drinking again.
What's the worst fake ID you've ever seen?
Actually, the bouncers catch them at the door. I don't see them.
Do you have a signature drink?
Espresso martini — vanilla vodka, coffee liqueur and a shot of espresso.
